In 2011, CSI Laboratories renovated 65,000 sqft of office space in Alpharetta, GA, into a state‐of‐the‐art laboratory and large, high‐efficiency office spaces specializing in cancer diagnostics. With this new facility, North Fulton and the Innovation Crescent are becoming the southeast’s hub of life sciences and biotech. Packaged energy recovery units are utilized in the facility to regain the energy from the lab exhaust systems. ATS Waypoint used dual duct VAV controllers to accurately control lab supply and exhaust slaved pairs.
Labs/Bio Pharmacy Projects
Labs/Bio Pharmacy
Pharmavite
Constructed in 2012, this 500,000 sqft pharmaceutical manufacturing facility was the first plant that Pharmavite built east of the Mississippi River. With the opening of this facility, Pharmavite more than doubled its manufacturing capacity. While Pharmavite may not be a household name, its products are widely known, such as Nature Made vitamins. It was the first major vitamin and supplement manufacturing facility in the United States to be LEED-certified. ATS Waypoint supplied the Alerton controllers that are used to maintain volumetric offsets in the lab areas. The office areas are conditioned by traditional air handling units and VAV terminal units. The Alerton control system integrates lighting, chillers, steam plants, Kathabar dehumidification units, VFDs, and fume hood monitors.
Arch Chemicals
In 2011 Arch Chemicals completed construction on 45,000 sqft of laboratory space in Alpharetta, GA. The New Innovation Center is a research and development complex dedicated to microbial control products. Chilled water air handling units condition both the office and lab spaces; traditional VAV terminal units provide zone control for the office spaces, while a Phoenix Controls lab system provides pressurization and temperature control in the laboratory space. ATS Waypoint provided Integration to the Phoenix Controls system via BACnet.
